Imagined spirits. Real places.

What if the streets, mills, markets, parks and forgotten corners of Stockport had their own ghosts?

That's where my Stockport Ghosts began.

Each spirit is an entirely fictional creation, inspired by Stockport's places, history, atmosphere and the stories that might have been whispered if the world were just a little stranger.

These aren't documented hauntings, historical people or claims of real sightings.

They are my ghosts small pieces of local folklore made from imagination, eco resin, paint and a little creative mischief.

Some are inspired by Victorian Stockport. Others wander through medieval lanes, post war streets, parks, woodland edges or places I've simply found intriguing.

Each one has its own story.

Each one has been captured.

And each one is waiting for somewhere new to haunt.

MOSSlight WHISPER

Keeper of forgotten gardens

A small spirit who once tended the neglected gardens on the edge of a village. He disappeared during a storm while trying to protect the plants he loved.

Perhaps he isn't haunting the garden.

Perhaps he's still looking after it.

THE HAUNTING OF HEATON NORRIS

A spirit drawn to the water

This yellow little ghost was inspired by the stories and atmosphere surrounding Heaton Norris and the river.

In my version of the tale, she became a restless spirit who tempted the unwary towards the water's edge.

Eventually, she was captured.

MEADOW SPIRIT OF HAZEL GROVE

Keeper of the wildflowers

A gentle spirit who loved the wild places around Stockport.

After her untimely death, she was said, in my fictional telling, to wander through the meadows and parks, keeping watch over the flowers.

Captured April 2024.

A restless spirit of Stockport

Another ghost born from the darker side of Stockport's imagined folklore.

This spirit wandered between the market, Edgeley and the shadow of the viaduct until its eventual capture.
